The activity was in response to the below mail:

Dear Prospective Engineers,

Let us put an effort to celebrate this Engineer's Day on Sep, 15, 2012 in a meaningful way.

Here is our plan for that day:

We suggest you to  have a look at the image below before continuing to read this mail.

A note about the image:

Model Name : 'Towers of Hanoi'
Art work and Design : Colleagues - CSE
Resources used:

1) Brooms sticks, No: 3 (for towers)
2) Color papers
3) Thermocol
4) Gum, Adhesive Tape
5) Pins
6) Sketch Pens
7) Drawing Sheet

Time taken : approx. 2 hours

Similar to the one, which we have built, now, you have to come-up with a model or artwork or both depicting your understanding of the concepts.

The topics to be used for building the model/art-work are as mentioned below:

For 3rd semester students:
'C' and 'Data Structures'

For 5th semester students:
'Analysis and Design of Algorithm' and 'Analog and Digital Electronics'  (Contact Prof. Nita G K)

The objectives of this entire activity are many. The most important ones are:
1) To Nourish our Engineering Skills
2) To Nourish our Marketing Skills

1) To Nourish our Engineering Skills :
a) To promote team-work. You are required to work in a team of max -4 class-mates.
b) To help better understand basic concepts
c) To manage time effectively
d) To manage resources efficiently
e) To make the best use of the existing/available resources
f) To create cost effective/ affordable end-products

To accomplish all the above, we have to create models - art work/cartoon of concepts (similar to the one attached with this mail)
About the resources to be used :
Let us use only those resources/garbage (thermocol, old LAN cable, old brooms, broomsticks, old drawing sheets [mech lab]... etc) which are already available in our or other departments of our college store-rooms.
This may require us to meet, the lab in-charges of various departments to procure the required resources. Please approach them formally with a request letter written by you stating the cause. This activity helps us to improve our negotiation skills)

About the expenses:
Please note, we are not spending even a single rupee from our pocket nor from our department, towards the said activity.

Lets not take any print-outs instead.

2) To Nourish our Marketing Skills:
a) To enhance our exhibition skills
b) To improve our communication skills
c) To improve our soft skills
We are working towards scheduling an exhibition of this entire activity, tentatively on 15th September, 2012 for the BCA, Diploma CS student friends of our neighboring colleges. Our 7th semester students will be working in this regard. (Mr. Subhas, Mr.Mushahid and his team)

We have to demonstrate our understanding of the concepts and thus our work in a meaningful and convincing way to our visitors.

About Evaluation of the work :
Finally a drop-box would be kept, in the department,  where in, we shall ask all our visitors to rate our work and prizes shall be awarded accordingly.

For any queries mainly the team formation and choosing of topics, please contact, Mr. Subhas Hegde, of 7th semester, CSE, SDMCET.

Responsibilities of Mr. Subhas, Mr.Mushahid and his team :
Coordinate with juniors in team formation
Coordinate with juniors in choosing of topics
Video recording of the entire show

Many thanks, once again to all those helped/supported directly/indirectly in making this event successful.
Many thanks once again to the Prospective Engineers, for a very positive response.
