ACM ICPC Programming Contest

ACM ICPC is a platform for students of engineering & MCA colleges to prepare themselves to become smart professionals. This contest will encourage the spirit of competitiveness and accelerate learning through extra curricular activities, within the student community.

 Rules and Regulations – Programming Contest:                                                                             

Participation for this event is open for all engineering and MCA students. Students from any engineering discipline/ branch may participate.
  1. This is a team event. A team consists of 3 competitors, one reserve competitor (optional) and one faculty/faculty coach, all from the same university or college campus. You may change your coach with the written permission and a reserve may replace a regular contestant.
  2. Your coach/faculty shall add you to a team. DO NOT create a team. After your coach adds you to a team, you shall receive an email message within 2 hours of being added, with instructions how to add your details to your personal information page. The email message is from "noreply@icpc.baylor.edu", so please watch for it as it may sometimes go to your junk or spam folder. After you add your personal details and click "Save", your registration is complete.
  3. Once you register for the event, indicate your acceptance that the organizers decision will be final and binding.
 Contest Stages:

STAGE I: Internet round 

  • Before the regional contest, you need to participate in an internet round contest on 17th October, 2010.
  • The aim of this internet round is to
    1. Promote the programming contest
    2. Familiarize you with how to use the online environment for the programming contest by practicing to solve problems
    3. Five hour contest, free for all registered teams
  • During the internet round you may take up to 5 hours of programming practice, online. You will be required to randomly solve problems of simple, medium and complex types that carry different maximum marks. All solutions submitted will be evaluated and scored by special software.
  • You will be provided with programming examples and several useful learning resources for preparing for internet round
  • You may choose to use any of the programming languages like Java, C, C++ and C#.
  • Based on your performance in the internet round, you will be short listed for the regional contest. 
  • Participant certificates in soft copy form can be downloaded from the portal.

STAGE 2: Regional Contest

  • The regional contest will be of 5 hours duration
  • The regional contest will be held in Amritapuri and Coimbatore simultaneously on 11th & 12th December, 2010
  • Teams from all over Asia come to Amritapuri or Coimbatore
  • Participating teams selected from first Internet round teams 
  • The contest will be conducted in the computer lab with proctoring support by the non-computer science faculty.
  • Four best performing teams will be selected for participation in WORLD FINALS.
  • There will be manual validation of solutions in case of tie-scores.
  • There will be registration fee of Rs. 3000 per team



STAGE 3: World Finals

 
  • The winning teams from regional contest qualifies to advance to the ACM International Collegiate Programming contest World Finals to be held in Cairo (Egypt) in the first week of March, 2011.
