Akshaya Patra reaches out more than 1.76 million children in 42 locations across 12 states of India, providing them with freshly cooked meals on all school days. Currently, we implement the Mid-Day Meal Program in more than 15,000 schools of the country, with the mission to reach 5 million by 2025.
Akshaya Patra, the biggest NGO run mid-day meal program in the world is well known for its innovative social service in the field of education with the help of technology. Our Mid-day meal kitchens are great source of learning for engineering minds who can take inspiration to serve society on a larger scale using technology. Driven by this thought we are hosting a 15 days program from 25th of June to 09th of July 2019 called “FLIGHT” (Future Leaders Inclusive Growth and Human Transformation).
In this internship program of residential model, students would get industrial exposure by working on real time scenarios related with technology that is being used in Akshaya Patra Kitchen. They would be mentored by experts while they work on the projects. Speech and presentations by eminent speakers on relevant topics will be given. Industrial visit is another important aspect of this program.
We would to set a trend to see FLIGHT happening every year so that maximum no. of students from various technical institutions of Hubli-Dharwad takes benefit of this program. To make this happen we require your continuous support in the form of valuable guidance, advice and inspiring lectures to the participants.
For Batch-1 on Saturday, 8th of June 2019 from 10:30 - 12:30, i conducted a demo cum hands-on session on MIT App Inventor (A browser based drag and drop tool for Android app development). All the students developed a simple calculator and tested in their smart phone. Later a demonstration on Photo Attendance android application was given to students. In this actually there are 2 applications, one for students for self registration with their selfie photo and an Android app for Teachers, who would use it to take a group photo or small video of the class and app would use Python code with Face Recognition algorithm to process and mark the attendance. The final attendance would appear on the Teacher's app and could be downloaded. For more details visit my friend's startup at https://www.s9e.biz. The session ended with a demo on Robotic Process Automation (RPA) - the concept, tools used in software automation, need for automation and its future.
For Batch-2 on Sunday, 30th of June 2019 from 10:00 - 12:30, i conducted a demo on WhatsApp chatbot using Twilio. Students experienced chatting with echo bot, where the WhatsApp chatbot echoed the user with their own messages. In the next session, students enjoyed chatting with an AI Engine.
