We profusely thank the HoD & organizers at Department of MBA, SDMCET for inviting Prof. Govind G N and myself to conduct a hands-on session on Working with Excel for Financial Use & Common Man Technologies on 27th March, 2017. We thank SDME Management for this kind opportunity. Most of the participants were PG students from MBA and M.Tech disciplines.

The session began with a discussion on Digital Payments using Paytm and BHIM, learnt that many students were already using e-wallets. Then we had an introduction to MS Excel, its importance and basic features followed by hands-on session on Pivot Table, EMI and Depreciation Value calculation using built-in features/formulae from financial perspective.
Later students were introduced to Google Drive, Google Forms and were asked to install Google Spreadsheet Android App. Google form was designed to collect basic information of participants and was shared with all participants using goo.gl URL shortener, followed by exposing students to Google Spreadsheets. A dummy Spreadsheet was shared with students via emailid and students were exited to work online in a collaborative way using laptop / android phones. Some basic Spreadsheet SQL formulae were shared. Later session concluded with demonstration of Google Mail Merge and other Addons in Google Spreadsheet.
