Dear All,
E-Yantra is an initiative of MHRD and IIT Bombay to improve the quality of Robotics and Embedded Systems education in the country. In order to spread this culture, E-Yantra has organised a national robotics competition to encourage students in Robotics and Embedded systems. Our competition is unique in that it is aimed at CS and IT students who are given a robot which they have to  use to address a real-world problem. All the knowledge required to participate is delivered to the students through a workshop at IIT-Bombay. The competition is open to undergraduate engineering students - esp. those who are yet to do their BE projects.

For students to participate, they:
1) Register by visiting our website - http://www.e-yantra.org/ [Last date 15 July]
2) Get selected through an online test.
3) Selected students are trained at IIT-Bombay in a 3-day workshop
4) They are given a robot (which they eventually donate to the host college)
5) They form teams, choose a task drawn from a real life problem and compete with other teams for the best solution.
6) They are supervised online and after 12 weeks, they are judged online and 3 winners are chosen from each themematic problem.
7) Theme winners come to IIT Bombay for E-Yantra Finale at Techfest 2013(Jan.)

Participation in the competition is a pre-requisite for us to assess the enthusiasm of  the faculty and students of an engineering college.
Following this engagement there is the possibility of scheduling robotics workshops and help in setting up a Robotic Lab through  the E-Yantra project (funded by MHRD, Govt. of India).
The first step is to urge our willing students to register for the competition at http://www.e-yantra.org. The minimum we guarantee is that each participating team gets trained and is able to donate to their college a robot.
What better way than this for your institution to become part of the exciting robotics and embedded systems scene in India!

With best regards,
Dr. Kavi Arya

Hello sir.. I'am interested in participating in this. But can you please inform me something about the topics we need to know to attend the online test? It'll help us to prepare to this test.
