SPARK IT 2010 - Conference for the Growth for IT Ecosystem

Meet a thousand IT Brains


                          I attended this two day conference, on March 18th,19th 2010, at Jawahar Nehru Auditorium, IISc Campus, Bangaluru.The conference was graced by Indian and International speakers.The conference aimed at delivering  high-value sessions on topics including .NET,Java,Web and Project Management.All this was accompanied by workshops on both the days.
                          I chose to undergo Web Technologies Track, as I already had an exposure to .NET and Java.
All the sessions were indeed of high value addition to me:



Sessions on  Day 1 - 18th March, 2010


1. "It could be Heaven or Hell"  -  A session by Venkat Subramaniam, Founder, Agile Developer Inc.
I had Hands on experience on Groovy.
        
The speaker had good collection of quotations like:
  • It is to the advantage of Project Managers to have smartest developers who know how to use sharp language tools.
  • It makes little sense to build the web tier with statically typed languages.
  • Java programmer suffers from excessive primitive obsession.
2."Architecting  for the Cloud" - Session by Simone Brunozzi, Technology Evangelist, Amazon, APAC, Amazon Web Services - Singapore.


3."Implementing MVC in Flex" - Session by Prabhu Sunderaman, Software Mentor & Corporate Trainer, Durasoft.The highlights could be downloaded by visiting Implementing MVC in Flex.


4."Google Go" - Session by S G Ganesh, Member Technical Staff, Siemens Corporate Technologies.
        Main points were:

  • Its known as the Next C Language and was launched in September 2009.
  • The complier for this could be found at Online Compiler .
  • The online compiler site could be used for compiling more than 50+ programming languages' source code.



5."Future of Web" - Session by Shashank Tiwari, Managing Partner & CTO, Treasury of Ideas.


6."Making a Better Web" - Session by Sachin Khosla, Founder, Digimantra.
Highlights were : PubSubHubbub is a simple, open, web-hook-based pubsub (publish/subscribe) protocol.Decentralized and free. Anybody can run a PubSubHubbub server or anybody can use an open server.


7."RIA in Entreprises" - Session by Shashank Tiwari, Managing Partner & CTO, Treasury of Ideas.
    Main points were:
Sessions on  Day 2 - 19th March, 2010
1. "Keynote on Java - Powering the next generation services with Java platform." - Session by Arun Gupta, who is a technology enthusiast, a passionate runner, and a community guy who works for Oracle Corp.

Highlights were on:
  • Popularity of Languages - You can see in this site that Java leads the rest of programming languages!
  • Metro - Metro is a high-performance, extensible, easy-to-use web service stack. It is a one-stop shop for all your web service needs, from the simplest hello world web service to reliable, secured, and transacted web service that involves .NET services
  • GlassFish - It is an open source application server project led by Sun Microsystems for the Java EE platform.
  • ICEfaces - It is a Rich Enterprise Application framework for J2EE Ajax developers.
  • SailFin - Project SailFin is based on robust and scalable SIP Servlets Technology. The SIP Servlet Container in Sailfin, which is based on the code contributed by Ericsson, is JSR289 compliant.
  • Java FX - It is the platfrom for creating RIA & delivering across all screens of our life (TV,Mobile,PC etc).
2. 'Gleaning for Meaning" -  Session by Shashank Tiwari, Managing Partner & CTO, Treasury of Ideas.
         Key points were mainly on Data on Web
  •    As on 2006, the size of data on web was 161 Exa Bytes.
  •    After 2010, Data on web will double every 72 Hrs. 
  •    ProgrammableWeb - Keeps you up to date with web mashups and APIs..
3. "Google App Engine - Goolge's Cloud Computing platform by Rajdeep Gupta & Anirudh Diwani, Google Developer Relations Team.

Highlights included:
  • SaaS - Software as a Service (Ex: Email Id)
  • PaaS - Platform as a Service
  • IaaS -   Infrastructure as a Service
  • GigyaGigya provides widget developers with free tools to help distribute and track their widgets.(Connects social networking sites to websites)
  • Google App Engine - Great for web applications ( Requirement based, Data based, Scales automatically, Available globally, Built in Denial of Service [Dos] Protection) .
  • Google App Engine - Google Code - Offers users the ability to build and host web applications on Google's infrastructure.
4. "Google Chrome Extensions" - Session by Rajdeep Gupta, Google Developer Relations Team.
           The highlights included:
5. "Spring MVC 3.0" - Session by Prabhu Sunderaraman, Software Mentor & Corporate Trainer, Durasoft 
         Highlighted Areas included: Spring Framework, Struts,Dependency Injection.


6. "New Features of .NET ASP 4.0" - Session by Joudeep Kanjilal, Software Consultant and Author.
         New features include:

  • CLR - Common Language Runtime
  • JNI- Java Natuve Language
  • CIL- Common Intermidiate Language
  • Parallel LINQ (Language Integrated Query)
7. "HTML - 5, A step towards semantic web" - Session by Sachin Khosla, Founder, Digimantra.
        The main features of HTML-5 structures page: Maintaining and evolving HTML since 2004
  • Auto Focus
  • Date Picker
  • Slider
  • Audio & Video Support
  • Auto Complete using datalist
        The other explored areas were:
  • Adobe Falsh
  • MS Silver Light
  • Apache Pivot
  • Sun Java Fx     
        
In brief I had a great exposure to the upcoming trends in IT Ecosystem.
